Glenwood Celebrates Black History Month
In February, Glenwood Elementary Students reflected on the contributions and resilience of African Americans with a "walk through Black History." The school's main hallway served as a gallery of pictures of famous African Americans. Attached QR codes allowed students to listen on their iPads to the subjects' biographies.
Indian Lane Students Participate in Black History Month Poster Contest
During the month of February, fourth grade students at Indian Lane participated in the NAACP Black History Month Poster Contest, researching Black Inventors Who Made Daily Life Better and creating posters that showcased the inventions and contributions of notable Black inventors.
Media Elementary Second Graders Design Bird Feeders
Media Elementary second graders have been busy with the new Mystery Science program. In February, the students became engineers, designing bird feeder prototypes!
Rose Tree Students Celebrate 100th Day of School
Rose Tree Elementary students celebrated the 100th day of school in many ways in February. First grade students enjoyed dressing up as 100-year-olds and participating in “100-themed” stations, such as this cup-stacking challenge, run by teachers and parent volunteers!
Springton Lake Raises Record Donation Amount in Hoops for Hope Game
Springton Lake students took on teachers in the 21st annual Hoops for Hope basketball game on February 19. The students bested the teachers 91 to 49, but the real winner was the Eagles Autism Foundation: $5,000 proceeds from the event were donated to the organization, and the foundation matched the amount, making it $10,000! This is the most money ever raised by RTMSD in this event.
Penncrest Bocce Tournament Showcases Student Collaboration & School Spirit
Penncrest High School's annual United Bocce Tournament on February 9, with bocce games against Interboro and Springfield, featured students receiving special education support partnered with their general education peers. Hundreds of students cheered on all the teams! Each partner and athlete were introduced and applauded. During the Closing Ceremony, each participant received a medal.
