In Art Club, students work to create their own masterpieces! This club is open to all grades. Each year, we will do different two-dimensional and three-dimensional projects.

Board Game Club

The Board Games Club is a place for students in grades 6-8 to gather who enjoy or want to learn more about tabletop games. Students will have the opportunity to play old favorites and learn some new games.

Meets: Every Wednesday in Room C208 from 3:05 (after the 2nd bell) to 4:00 (when the activity buses arrive).

Choice Voices

Choice Voices is a choral ensemble that is open to all 6th grade students. Throughout the year, we'll perform at the 6th grade chorus concerts as well as within the community.

Colorguard

Do you like to dance? Do you like to perform? Come join the Springton Lake Middle School Colorguard! This unique performance activity combines dance with spinning a flag and culminates in a two-minute performance piece.

Community Service
The Community Service Club is a club centered around service projects throughout the school year. Club members will participate in planning school-wide projects, which include: organizing the Turkey Trot in November, the MLK Day of Service in January, and the Hoops for Hope Faculty-Student Basketball game in February. Students who participate in NJHS will have the opportunity to earn community service credits. However, all students are welcome!

Debate Club

The Debate Club explores important issues such as global warming, the presidential elections, and even who will win the Super Bowl through vigorous and passionate discussions among friends.  If you are interested in current events, the law, and public speaking, you may enjoy the Debate Club.

Environmental Club

The Environmental Club works to better the environment in a number of ways. Past projects have included recycling, growing vegetables for donation, planting flowers, etc. This is a great way to make new friends and participate in a school service activity.

Honors Strings is an advanced ensemble that meets after school on Tuesdays from 3:10 till 3:55. The club is for students who are dedicated to playing their instrument and desire to play a more challenging repertoire.

Jazz Band: 7th & 8th Grades

Students continue learning the art of big band jazz. You must make arrangements with Mr. Reno to set-up an audition for jazz band. Prior experience is a must. This ensemble performs at two in-school concerts and two evening concerts per school year, as well as local jazz festivals from January to May. There may be an occasional extra performance or two, depending on the progress of the ensemble. To join, search for the Jazz Lab course in Schoology and enter the class code: Z9WZ-5G3R-MDBHP

Jazz Lab

Jazz Lab is open to all grade levels. Students get hands-on training in the fundamentals of America’s art form...big band jazz. Open to the following instruments:  flute, oboe, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto sax, tenor sax, bari sax, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, tuba, electric guitar, bass guitar, piano, drum set, auxiliary percussion. Newspaper Club Have you ever dreamed of being a voice for the voiceless? Speaking truth to power? Or covering and breaking down your favorite sport or activity? If so, we've got the club for you. Come join the Spartan Splash staff and make some waves. The Newspaper Club is a year-round activity that meets on Wednesdays from 3-4, with occasional meetings on Thursdays. We're looking for students of all types and interests to ensure a diverse voice for our paper. If you're interested in writing, drawing, taking pictures, you name it - come dive in!

Salute To Service

The Salute to Service Club is open to all students looking to become active citizens who value the heroes who have served our community and our country. The club will plan Patriot Day, Veteran’s Day, Law Enforcement Day, and Memorial Day events. We will also collaborate and interact with veterans from our area to educate our student body through guest speakers and service projects that may occasionally be an outreach opportunity in our local community. Join us in shaping our community through active participation, civic pride, and a sense of patriotism!

Reading Olympics

S.H.I.N.E.
(Spartans Helping Initiate New Experiences)

This club has two programs. The first program is Unified Bocce Ball running in the spring. We will get together two days a week to practice our bocce skills. The second program is open to all students interested in serving as a peer mentor to a small group of students once per cycle on day 7 during academic workshop (CE).

Promoting Positivity and Healthy Choices

Promoting Positivity and Healthy Choices Club/S.A.D.D.(formerly known only as Students Against Destructive Decisions- SADD) is a club that focuses on spreading positivity in our school community. In October, we plan to promote Red Ribbon Week activities. After October, we’re going to focus on activities to promote gratefulness in November, help to plan Kindness Week in January, celebrate healthy relationships in February, assist with Read Across America in March, and look for volunteer opportunities in April. In addition to these things, we will strive to look for additional opportunities to promote positivity and healthy choices at Springton Lake. We plan to meet the first and third Tuesday of the month and are always open to new members, so come join us and help us to spread positive vibes! If you’d like to join, you can sign up on the form Dr. Layton created and email Mrs. Megow on Schoology or show up at one of our meetings, which will be held on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday of the month in Room C204.

Science Olympiad

Science Olympiad is an academic, competitive science team that focuses on all areas related to science. Students compete in three competitions:  invitational, regional, and state. Students are expected to remain at school to train with their partners a minimum of 2 days per week. Our season is from October to May.

Student Council

Student Council will be looking for representatives from each grade. The responsibilities are to attend meetings, participate in school activities, volunteer, and offer ideas and suggestions for school events. Regular attendance for meetings is mandatory. You will need to submit an application if you are interested.

Yearbook Club

The Yearbook Club takes pictures throughout the year at school events and creates the yearbook through an online program. Students can participate in a fall and/or spring sport, but not in a winter sport. All interested participants must complete a Yearbook Application (located in the cafeteria) and return it to Mrs. Hemenway in room C009 no later than Friday, October 11.

Meets: Students are expected to attend all yearbook meetings on Thursdays after school (3:05-4:00 pm), from November through mid-March.
